Slow cooking and the art of great coffee in Meningie

Well, it feels like we were away for ages although it was only a couple of days.
I sometimes feel that time passes much slower when we're away, which is good, you have more time to absorb the events that way.

We had a great trip, surprising moments and the best weather.
I'm not sure I'll be good in expressing in words what we experienced so I will post a few photos later on. One episode I will have to share with you right away though.

We planned the long drive to be the shorter the possible as we wanted to spend more time at Beachport than on the road and also, driving such a distance with little M. is somewhat challenging.
We hit the road very early in the morning and when the little got up we also felt like having a short stop.
By than we arrived to Meningie.
There is not much to say about Meningie other that it is on the shore of lake Albert, that sadly, nowadays look more like a swamp than a lake and that it was the first town in Australia to have ADSL broadband installed! Well, that's big isn't it? We couldn't take advantage of that fact but we did stop and looked for a place to have a short rest and a coffee.
Now, I will have to say it loud and clear - coffee in Australia sucks! yeah, I'm sorry, but it does. Sad but true.
It is not that easy to get yourself a good indulging cup of Cappuccino unless you're the one to make it. And so we didn't expect much of a town that have one cafe, one petrol station and 6 and a half streets.

But that's the nice thing about life - when you expect the worst you find the most!
We enter a small deserted place, sat down and asked for 2 cappuccinos and one glass of milk for little M.
By the time the coffee was ready I've noticed the barista is holding some cooking books next to his cash-box. To our big surprise our fellow was a fan of slow cooking and Italian food!
The coffee arrived to the table and, well, you are probably guessing by now, it was SO GOOD!! It was the best coffee I had since we arrived here.
I believe having good coffee in the morning can assure your day is going to be great! and so it was!

Here's to sweet surprises where you less expect them!

P.S. If you find yourself in Meningie, check out our little wonder place on 52 Princes Hwy. Tell the bearded man we say hello!
