Earl’s Gourmet Grub

The beautiful space of Earl’s Gourmet Grub caught my eyes when browsing Arch Daily.

Earl’s is an artisanal deli and gourmet market that opened in May 2010 in Los Angeles.
Small and casual from the outside, the deli's space overwhelms you with its digital patterns and torquing ceiling surfaces that are combined with rich materials and natural color palette.

Earl’s Gourmet Grub owners, Yvonne McDonald and Dean Harada, seeked a contemporary look but one that evokes the rustic or alpine qualities of the fresh ingredients used in their food. FreeLandBuck designed a space that mixes cutting-edge technology with down to earth sensibility and a warm feeling.
The result is a balanced aesthetics that, as the design agency describes - "Evokes both technological refinement and the more rustic feel of alpine landscapes and Viennese cafes."

You can watch some of the designing and building process on Earl’s Gourmet Grub blog.
