Experimenting ScreenPrinting

Not sure I've already told you that I'm doing a printing course at the moment.
Its mainly aim is to teach textile printing but somehow, at the moment, I enjoy printing on paper much more.
As with everything in my life... I am a bit of a late bloomer and therefore started enjoying the course on the 2 meetings before it ends...
Anyway, I thought I'd share the 2 last prints I've made. Not a fantastic work of art but I have to admit that I really love them both and want to keep experimenting with both screens, maybe try printing them with 2 colors and on different papers and textiles and play with texture a little bit.

The first one, Birds, was printed using a hand-drawn stencil. The second one, Zoro, was printed using a screen coated with emulsion. The original photo is one I've taken more than a year ago when we were in Barcelona while The Man had one of his mustachio periods... (it happens once a year or so...). It was processed into black & white and halftone dot screen.

Click on the photos to view them large on Flickr.

Would love so much to hear your feedback!

  1. I really like both of them, I think birds is my favorite, so lovely! The phrase mustachio periods totally made me laugh by the way, too cute!

  3. Screenprinting is so much fun! I like the birds and the mustsch is pretty funny.
I would love it if my guy grew a beard, but I guess a mustash is not the same...:)

  4. Courses are so much fun! I've wanted to do screenprinting for ages, but I probably won't get around to it anytime soon - love your pieces, and the fact that you're getting into it (slow bloomer or now! he he). xo Can't wait to see more of your work!

  6. Both fantastic prints! How exciting! I am really enjoying the process as well. Right now I am looking for some reasonably priced water-based inks before moving on. The ink I had before was super expensive so I am trying not to get attached to the colors I had. Anyway, thanks for your kind comment on my blog and for sharing.

I couldn't find the follow button on your blog but I love it!

I've never done any type of screenprinting....but am fascinated by the end results.
