Phoebe Reid's Masks

Masks are one of the most intriguing accesories you can use.
It's not just what it hides, it is also about what it reveals in the mask you're chosen to use.
When you mask your face, or even only your eyes, you hide much more than just your physical identification. You hide your personality, your past and present, and with that, while only your face is hidden, for that time, you can someone else entirely.

I'm fascinated with the use of masks in art and design and collect works I like on my Masks board. I find them all so interesting, but when I discover Phoebe Reid's Flickr I was utterly captivated.
Phoebe creates scenes that seems so natural and normal, but her photography gives it a special atmosphere. When she also covers her models' faces, the result is whimsical and fantastic.
I can look at each photo for very long minutes, visualize who is behind the mask and create a little narrative in my head.
Do you also find them imaginative?
For me they are so inspiring, I feel I can write a collection of short stories just from looking at each picture for quite enough time...Wouldn't that be nice to share?

Find more striking photos by Phoebe on her Flickr and her Etsy shop.
