Rob Dunlavey's Crystal Cities
Hello Monday and happy new week dear bloggy friends!
Here's something I wanted to post for a long time now; Crystal Cities is a set of drawings by Rob Dunlavey that utilize various media to explore complicated and mostly decorative cities and buildings.
When I first saw one of his works (that was via Poolga, an iPhone app with a beautiful selection of artworks that you can download as wallpapers for your device. Rob's Crystal City 06 is available for download here) it hugely reminded me of the works of Shmuel Kats, an Israeli artist and illustrator that illustrate one of the books I love the most as a kid (you can have a look at the cover here).
When I view the whole set I couldn't but think how his drawings could have been perfect to illustrate Italo Calvino's fantastic book Invisible Cities.
I would love to get lost in a one of his imaginative beautiful Crystal Cities...
