... I would like to get lost in this geometric masterpiece.
The Livraria da Vila, is a unique 3 levels bookstore in São Paulo, Brazil.
The bookstore was designed by architect Isay Weinfeild, who was seeking to create a space that will allow customers to fully experience the products, as comfortable as possible.

In the case of Livraria da Vila which slogan is "Seu jeito de ler" (The way you read), creating a comfortable space was translated into designing a composition of low ceiling areas with indirect lighting and soothing color scheme.
There are bookshelves wherever you look, with books from floor to ceiling, stretching from wall to wall.
The bookstore is built over 900 meters, and is home to 150,000 books (90,000 titles) and 15,000 CD's and DVD's

The feeling I get from those photos is that as much as the place is so modernly and geometrically designed, it brings to mind the feeling of a 2nd hand store. A place where you can lose yourself, very cozy and homey.
It makes you want to spend a whole day in this place, browse the shelves slowly or even grab a book and relax an hour or two on the couches scattered around at the reading areas.
There is no better way to greet you than with Samuel Seibel's, Livraria da Vila owner, words:
"Boa leitura a todos!" (Good reading to all!)

Olá,
ReplyDeleteLá grande é ela, mas aposto que não tem o livro que eu quero: "aquele" famoso livro do Harley Brown :-)
Desejo-te uma boa semana,
José
