Olympia Le-Tan Modern Classics

“Books you can’t read” is a wonderful series of handmade clutches and bags by Parisian designer Olympia Le-Tan.
The collection wears the covers of first edition novels, stolen from the library of her artistic father, Pierre Le-Tan. Olympia then reproduces them as close to the original as possible in delicate beautiful embroidery.

"I was thinking there were all these beautiful books around and they were being forgotten with everybody on the Internet, so I made it so that you can carry them around," said designer Olympia Le-Tan.

I love the idea of making art and fashion out of classic literature. I always find it amazing to hear from people I really appreciate that they have never read books I grew on.
Maybe by bringing classics down to the street it could awaken it from its slumber and make the interest in it more than just using it as an accessory.

Check out Olympia Le-Tan site for availability and read the nice and short interview with her on Dazed Digital.
