Take me there...

La Maison Champs Elysées
La Maison Champs Elysées
La Maison Champs Elysées

La Maison Champs Elysées in Paris.
A place made of history and fine design.
White spacious suite room.
Piles of books and a cute little desk.
Plush bed.

Or by the hotel's own words:

"A new world of luxury and poetry, a relaxed atmosphere in which minimalism is enhanced by an incredible attention to detail. It is a place that tells a story, the interiors of this remarkable hotel are carefully orchestrated like a playful, provocative theatrical production."

Take me there! I promise I'll even try my hand at a little bit of poetry!

Versailles at night

Some Mondays, and especially this one, I feel I need a little magic.
With all the bad news still coming from all around the world, I thought bringing a bit of old-time charm would be a nice way to start the week.

Those stunning photos of Versailles at night were taken by Alix of the always magnificent The Cherry Blossom Girl, while visiting Marie Antoinette’s private apartments.
I visited the Versailles Palace when I was 18 (some very long time ago...) and I still remember with awe how magnificent and dreamy this place is.
It is enormous and the feeling of luxury is everywhere you look; the art works, the rich colors, textures, fabrics, gardens and so on and on. I can't think of any other place that astonishing.

Be sure to visit The Cherry Blossom Girl for the full post and more magnificent photos.

Hope you enjoyed a little magical moment here and have a great week ahead! xx

Talking About Umbrellas...

...Michel Heurtault of Parasolerie Heurtault makes haute couture umbrellas.

“I’ve been obsessed with umbrellas from the time I was three. I have no idea why, but I could spend hours breaking them apart and studying how they opened and closed. I collected all of the umbrellas I could find, and by the time I was eight I was repairing them for people in my neighborhood. Needless to say, my parents thought I was nuts."

I know The Man would be swept off his feet just by looking at those classics.
So Frenchy so chic!

Read Michel Heurtault tell the story behind his flabbergasting art on Paris By Appointment Only.

Olympia Le-Tan Modern Classics

“Books you can’t read” is a wonderful series of handmade clutches and bags by Parisian designer Olympia Le-Tan.
The collection wears the covers of first edition novels, stolen from the library of her artistic father, Pierre Le-Tan. Olympia then reproduces them as close to the original as possible in delicate beautiful embroidery.

"I was thinking there were all these beautiful books around and they were being forgotten with everybody on the Internet, so I made it so that you can carry them around," said designer Olympia Le-Tan.

I love the idea of making art and fashion out of classic literature. I always find it amazing to hear from people I really appreciate that they have never read books I grew on.
Maybe by bringing classics down to the street it could awaken it from its slumber and make the interest in it more than just using it as an accessory.

Check out Olympia Le-Tan site for availability and read the nice and short interview with her on Dazed Digital.

I'm Loving: Philippe Roucou’s Polaroid Scarves

I'm in love with these silk scarves featuring Polaroid prints from Parisian Phillippe Roucou. Smart fashion at its best or should I say Arty fashion at its best?
The series is called objets trouvés (found objects) and I bet some people would love to hang it on their walls rather than on their necks.
Either way - I think it is genius.
