There is something fascinating about photographers who take a picture of themselves behind a camera. It is also interesting to find out what is hidden in the photograph and what is visible.
I find the last photo exceptional as it is one of the very few I've found where you can actually see the photographer face.
Can you call those photos a self-portrait?
What is the object; The photographer? The camera? The surrounding?

I like the first photo......I'm wondering who is taking HIs picture. Fun Idea thou, to think about the photographer...
ReplyDeleteI think they are all great. I think they are saying "I'm always looking and ready to capture that special moment on film"
ReplyDeleteLove these self-portraits!
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by my blog - I'm going to try your suggestion, as I do love tea! I think that might just work.
thank you!

i think it's not really a portrait of the person, more of the action or the way they picture others will see them.
ReplyDeleteToo shy to be "in" the picture I guess. Maybe it's like a chef preparing an entire meal for herself.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh, I definately think they are self-portraits. there's still an active choice in what goes in and is left out, and the location, lighting, etc. I think each one tells a story, and I love them. Thanks so much for sharing these - they are fascinating. Such a great collection! xo
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful! I have a bunch of pics, too, where two photographers are taking pics of each other at the same time...these are some of our favorite pics!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Very fun :)
ReplyDeleteAll the pics are beautiful! I love the last one, but the other ones are so darn intriguing!
For me they are self portraits indeed.
i think self photographs are intriguing. it makes the viewer aware of the creation of the photograph. that there is a photographer and a camera changes the way the picture is understood. i love the ones you posted as well. the second to last is my favorite for sure!

The light in the first one is amazing. Also I think the picture taken in the small mirror on the wall is really well constructed.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots! I love the lighting on the girl in front of the green wall.
ReplyDeleteI love those old cameras!!!!
