Working Artists:: Serena Mitnik-Miller

Following yesterday's post featuring Serena Mitnik-Miller's wooden blocks, I've visited her inspiring blog which I suggest you to do as well.

I'm always intrigued by the process of making art. The preparations involved, the thoughts behind, the artist's inspiration.
Some of my favorite reading are artists' personal blogs and websites, where they share the 'behind-the-scenes' of their work.
Another aspect that I always find interesting is the artist workspace. It is something I put a lot of thought on, always checking if my environment inspires me and how to make it both comfortable, uplifting, and arousing (I can tell you that I'm far from my ideal workspace and usually I find myself writing and working at the kitchen dining table, the backyard, or at other sporadic, occasional places).

Going back to Serena, I enjoyed finding a series of photographs documenting her last summer while she was working on her beautiful wooden blocks and paintings.
Andrew Paynter has been photographing Serena as part of his series Working Artists. These photographs are so beautiful and inspiring and give a glimpse on her world and where some of inspiration comes from.
Check out Andrew Paynter website for the rest of the series portraying Geoff McFetridge, Thomas Campbell, Evan Hecox, and Mattson 2.
