I absolutely love the retro-inspired works of young British artist Paul X. Johnson.
He drinks tea and create in the North East of England, where he lives by the ocean. I can imagine Paul's strong paintings take form in his studio, where the striking views of the North Sea can be seen through his windows.
I especially love his artwork titled Rachael, which is, of course, inspired by Ridley Scott's Blade Runner - one of my all-time favorite movies.

Wow they are pretty cool!! "Rachel" actually reminds me of me in the 80's I looked very much like that... black dress and hair in that beehive style :D
ReplyDeleteI love Blade Runner too, such a great film. His work is amazing - it has a sort of 'steely' edge to it, as well as being nostalgic.
ReplyDeleteWow, "Rachel" is so dramatic - kind of stops you in your tracks. I think it's interesting how his artwork seems to have a slight Japanese flavour to them - though I'm not sure if that's just me.
