For a couple of years, Invader is working on a project with the mission to "invade" cities all over the world, with characters inspired by first-generation arcade games, and especially the now classic Space Invaders.
His street art is now spread over 35 cities around the world.
I've seen some Invaders around Adelaide lately but I learned from his website that those are probably a kind of homage to his work but they weren't made by him.
As much as I love his 'outdoor' art, I think Invader 'indoor' art is just as fantastic. Have a look:
I have to admit I've never played Space Invaders but there is something terribly cute and addictive in these pixelized creatures. Even more so is the fact that I can't resist happy art, and these are awesome example.
Who wouldn't smile while looking at one of those?

ReplyDeleteI've already found 2 real ones in my city. They're a bit damaged, but i'm happy no one removed them.
I love his work! Only recently got to see it in person... such a kick to see his little invaders in person!!
ReplyDeleteI love street art! We've just returned home to Australia from a trip to Europe and I'm pretty sure we saw genuine invaders works in Paris. I'll have to check my photos... They really are so cute.
