Northern Lights

The northern lights, or aurora borealis, are seen when the solar wind stream hits Earth's magnetic field, sparking bright auroras around the Arctic Circle.
These magnificent pictures of the northern lights in Norway were taken by photographer Bjorn Jorgensen who lives in Tromso in northern Norway.
Bjorn said: "I started photographing the Northern Lights in 2001, just to see if it was at all possible to capture this spectacular phenomenon on camera. "I live north of the Arctic Circle, and am used to see Northern Lights every winter, but I am still fascinated by the beauty in the auroras, and it is a great experience to lie down in the snow and just watch the auroras fly over my head."

  1. That's amazing! I wish there were wine regions north of a Polar Circle.
