Nga Waiata Rings

Nga Waiata rings

I'm loving so much those wood and crystals rings by New Zealand based artist Nga Waiata.
The warm smooth touch of the wood with the cold, chalky crystal give the rings such a unique appeal.
As a bonus, each ring brings a special energy (or power) with it, according to the used crystal. My favorite it the Stone of total awareness which helps expand the intellect and intuitive aspects of ones character and facilitates clear expression of thoughts.
I seriously think I need the whole collection as I could not find even one crystal quality I could live without!

Translucence

Billy Bride jewelry

I've spotted Billy Bride's rings on a local magazine some time ago but unfortunately lost it and since then I was unsuccesfully looking all over the interent, trying to find some information about these amazing creations.
Luckily enough, last week, 2 of my favorite blogs, had featured those rings again and so I have the chance to share it with you!

Renee Warne is the designer behind the label Billy Bride. Each of her rings is individually handcrafted assuring no two stones are alike. Renee creates her rings using indigene Australian materials and keeping
her crystals the same as they are naturally occur, retaining their raw appearance.

Her rings reminded me a photo I took a couple of months ago at the South Australia Museum. In the photo, the little miss is awe-inspired by a huge display of crystals from all around the globe (you can view it here).
There is something so beautiful and unique with working with crystals, especially when keeping them as unrefined, that is invigorating.

Bring back the sparkle.

Guest Post: Concrete Pearls

Hello! i'm Jokemijn and while Galit is enjoying every minute with her family and her newborn nephew, i'll gladly fill the free space available over here. I'm not really a talker, more of a pictures-person and i wanted to show you these.

I loved the idea of wearing cement earrings. I discovered these at Metsa shop. With wear, the colour of the earrings will deepen as the concrete is exposed to the air and the oils from your skin. Beautiful aren't they? They also have these stunningly simple shirts in their shop. I love the deep blue colour.

Otto's Necklaces

I deeply in love with these necklaces.
I like the many contradictions in them: their design seem to be inspired by ancient motifs and at the same time they look so fresh and modern. The front is massive and appear heavy while the suede ribbon is soft and light. Also, the use of sheer plastic in warm colors with the gray hues of the ribbon is so interesting. Such fantastic design.

Designed by Otto, seen on Anica Boutique.
Couldn't find any information about Otto, the designer. Anyone?

Alidra Alić's Alice in Wonderland

These surreal oversize rings by Danish artist Alidra Alić, are inspired by the floral motifs of Lewis Carroll's classic 'Alice's adventures in wonderland'. No doubt they are the best accompaniment for the Mad Hatter tea party...
Alidra says: "The jewelery pieces are statements of art and are worn by those who dare".
I find them to be so feminine and whimsical and although a bit eccentric, I think I would love to wear them and not even just to special occasions. It would sure brings magic and charm to the most ordinary events and outfits.
Would you wear them?

In addition to her contemporary work, Alidra Alić also creates a wonderful wearable pieces of fine jewelery that are available at SLOWFASHIONhouse.com
