Mary Katrantzou by Erik Madigan Heck

My pattern loving heart missed more than one heart bit when I first saw this editorial of Mary Katrantzou's latest collection.

The set was photographed by NY-based photographer Erik Madigan Heck for Nomenus Quarterly (The World’s Most Expensive Magazine! ummm....).

Heck, who was inspired by the late interior paintings of the 19th century French painters Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard created a dream-like, luxurious (decadent even) looking editorial with layer over layer of rich, dazzling pattern. I can't stop looking. Stunning!

P.S. If you want more blinding patterns, Amy of Umbrella Prints, just published a beautiful post yesterday - Pattern over Pattern, have a look.

Pattern and Colour

Kristina who is a very sweet friend and also a super talented photographer, document her travels around the world in her photography blog which is one of my favorites.
I love all of her photographs and am always at awe by the places she visit.
Last month she traveled to Marrakech, Morocco, and came back with dozens of stunning photos from this photogenic place. So much colour and pattern in one place, I bet it makes you dizzy to walk around!
I chose three of her photos which are a bit subtler comparing to the rest but nevertheless rich with pattern and colour.
Check out the full series here.

Have you been to Marrakech or any other place you found especially interesting in terms of its colours?

P.S. I'm guest blogging today at Ren Lady of the Arts with a list of our favorite Top 11 Classics movies For 3-5 Year Old's. I would love it if you visit and say hello!

Pattern and Colour

Kangaroo Island

I just found a bunch of photos I took in Kangaroo Island about 2 months ago.
I'm going over them now, but these got my attention with their surprising rich colours and patterns.
The place is Chapman River Wines' Cellar Door which we visited on our second day on the island.
It was a real treasure to find (and to shoot).

More photos on my Flickr set.
