Calabash Pendant Lamp

Komplot Design

Copenhagen based Komplot Design have created the Calabash pendant.
It's my current favorite pendant lamp after beating Tom Dixon's Copper Shade.

Wo and Wé Vintage restored lamp

One of the things I like about blogging, is receiving your emails with links and suggestions for all kind of things I might enjoy and love.
Such was an email from Olivier Abry from Lyon, France, hinting I might like his vintage-assembled lamps. He was right - I fell in love with his creations right away.
Oliver is light "creator-assembler". His interesting looking lamps are made out of restored lamps and different industry components. I love their interesting unique look and their versatility - it seems like they could fit just anywhere - from the bedroom, to the living room, study or office.

New lamps are featured in Olivier's site every couple of days so go check it out for more beautiful works of his. I also enjoyed his personal inspiration journal so much. Check it here.

Diamond light

Eric Therner Diamond Light

After the last un-sparkle I've shared with you, I got an urgent email from my friend Hiri, shouting out there's no way to talk about diamonds in art & design without featuring Swedish designer Eric Therner's Diamond light.
As I find the shape of a diamond to be (aesthetically) fascinating, but knows it is hard to be sure your diamond is ethically produced, I prefer my diamonds to be in the form of art.
Lucky us, Eric Therner has created this beautiful environmentally friendly, e-27 halogen light bulb to be enjoyed with a clean conscious mind.

Light Objects by Naama Hofman

001 lamp by Naama Hofman

001 lamp by Naama Hofman

001 lamp by Naama Hofman

This uber-cool minimalist LED lamp by Israeli designer Naama Hofman stole my lighting-crazy heart.
The 001 flexible, super-modern yet timeless light fixture, can be used hanged on a wall or placed on the floor or table. It is made of bent metal rods, in any colour you wish for, joined by an acrylic tube that houses about 120 LEDs. The effect is a beautiful soft glow.
I think it could be especially magnificent to use it to decorate an open space; a balcony or back yard. It's light in a dark night is surely stunning don't you think?

Check Naama's website for more innovative light objects.

Copper Shade

Jakob Solgren for Elle Interiör

Loving this (not so new) Copper Shade pendant light by Tom Dixon which is sure to bring warmth whenever you turn the light on.
The way it reflects the room around is wonderful and makes me believe that, the messier the room is, the more beautiful the reflection will be. Hmmmm....

Super Nova

Talking about aliens and surrealism...
Seeing the Huggable Inflatable Light from Cleanroom and Scale 1:1, made me think I already live in the future.
The Super Nova lights produce a soft ambient glow after you inflate and switch their hi-efficiency LED on.
They are huggable and pleasant to touch as they produce virtually zero heat.
I would say that make it something between an amazing decorating lighting and a weird futuristic species which will become your new close friend on a cold dark night...

Did someone mention these to Rune Guneriussen? I bet he could have made a delightful new installation out of them.

I'm Loving: Hong Kong Red Light

How cool is this Hong Kong Red Light? Just like in the bustling streetmarkets of Hong Kong, this is the original design since over 30 years.
I like its retro flair. It could fit perfectly in our dining area and would make me feel like in one of Wong Kar Wai's films. Love it!

Paper Clips - ReDesigned

I can't decide what I like more about ReDesignTechnologies - The amazing idea of turning paper clips into magnificent chandeliers, the great photos that stand for themselves or the stunning chandeliers?
All of the above for sure.

ReDesign Technologies Environmental Art and Design
is owned and operated by Penelope Bridge. Before started designing her own line of products, Penelope have been, among other occupations, an acrobat, classical life model, set decorator, vintage furniture restoration and display artist, painter, tattoo illustrator, dance instructor, cocktail waitress, graphic designer, translator, research librarian and educator.
I guess for someone as that fascinating, you couldn't expect less than extraordinary creative mind and unique designs.

Do you know these modern art works that you look at and think to yourself - "Oh! Such an easy idea, I could have made it myself!"
Penelopa is challenging you on this one - You think you can do it? Go ahead and buy her PDF Paper Clip Chandelier Frame Master Key Tutorial and try it at home. Just don't forget to mail me your photos when your done!
