M Design Robots

M Design is the brain child of Marjolaine Poulin (AKA Mao), a young and imaginative Canadian artist and designer living in El Salvador.
She create a variety of objects, furniture, jewelry, and accessories mostly from a mix bamboo and wood.

I love her works which are genuine, unique and very diverse in style and design.
I was looking at her website earlier yesterday with Little Miss M. who got so excited by Mao's Robots collection. We both think they're awesome and so very cute!

Mao says on her robots:
"M Design's wood robots idea came alive the day that my boyfriend started to wonder what to do with those amazing little pieces of scrap wood from his house construction in El Salvador. Many different essence of tropical wood laying on top of one another were for me, little robot heads next to a robot arm, resting on a robot foot. They were just asking me to be put together and so I did".

Check out her collection on her blog and don't miss her great SCRAP project: a line of poetical and practical pieces that are upcycled from salvaged furniture combined with scraps from local businesses. Truly wonderful!!

Fortune Cookie

These Fortune Cookie Coin Purses by Diana Eng are doing a big blog-round at the moment but I couldn't resist showing them to you, just in case one of my lovely readers haven't seen them anywhere else... :)
They are totally adorable and I like Diana's remark that "No animals were harmed to make these purses" as they are made from recycled leather.
Still, I'll be so happy to see a version of the purses made of fabric or faux leather!

Two little cute facts about the Fortune Cookie Coin Purses:
- Each purse has a unique number on it so you can track its origin.
- Just like in a real fortune cookie - you will find a printed fortune inside each purse!!

They make a fantastic gift don't you think?

Wo and Wé Vintage restored lamp

One of the things I like about blogging, is receiving your emails with links and suggestions for all kind of things I might enjoy and love.
Such was an email from Olivier Abry from Lyon, France, hinting I might like his vintage-assembled lamps. He was right - I fell in love with his creations right away.
Oliver is light "creator-assembler". His interesting looking lamps are made out of restored lamps and different industry components. I love their interesting unique look and their versatility - it seems like they could fit just anywhere - from the bedroom, to the living room, study or office.

New lamps are featured in Olivier's site every couple of days so go check it out for more beautiful works of his. I also enjoyed his personal inspiration journal so much. Check it here.

Junktion

<

Junktion is a Tel Aviv based design studio who specializes in taking one man's trash and turning it into another man's object of desire.

They say about their philosophy:
"Junktion people love seeing objects in new ways, stuff that makes us think, stuff that makes us act, stuff that makes us laugh...
Junktion people believe that there is enough stuff in the world already and try to take from what there is, and often find our desires in what no longer interests others."

Their creations are so fresh and unique, though stunning in their simplicity. It looks like there is no such object they wouldn't be able to use to create a new awe-inspiring design. I can't stop thinking of a way to challenge them. Any suggestions?

Teacups Wearable Bracelets

Original? Check!
Creative? Check!
Eco friendly? Of course!
Pretty and charming? So absolutely yes!
Abigail MaryRose Clark's Charming vintage bonechina teacup bracelets are so gorgeous and, as Sam of Good Measure describes it best, challenges you to look at the things you see every day with fresh eyes.

Abigail custom makes her bracelets so you can choose your preferred teacup or even send her one of yours. A good opportunity to look for forgotten teacups your grandma hid in the cupboard and make them into wonderful accessories don't you think?

Talking about triangles...

... These exquisitely beautiful objects by CraftedSystems are a pure geometry perfection ...

CraftedSystems was founded by industrial designer Aurelie Tu. It is not just a place for great designs; The project is a collaboration with the YWCA Women's Shelter in Portland, that helps training women with innovative weaving techniques and providing them with an empowering employment and a creative outlet.
For making their products, they use only eco-friendly production methods and materials (100% wool felt with no fasteners), and so they are completely sustainable.

As I can't resist geometry goodness almost of any kind, I love these so much. Their super modern and sophisticated look still have the handmade, more traditional feeling to it and when knowing the story behind Aurelie's project, they become quite irresistible.

Check out CraftedSystems website for many other great designs (especially the beautiful rugs and limited edition lamps).

Bookfor Armchair by Luca Gnizio

Luca Gnizio's Bookfor armchair is, as suggested by its name, an armchair that is designed by the concept of a book; it is made of layers of different fabrics that you can turn (just like turning pages in a book) and create an entirely new look. You can even add new 'pages' from your own textile collection and personalize your armchair so it fits your mood or desired color scheme in a perfect way.

Luca, a young industrial designer from Milan, Italy, made his innovative chair by using only recycled materials, including iron bars recovered from reinforced concrete, rubber tips from old walking sticks, clothing, plastic material and paper remnants.

The result is so interesting although a bit rough, with a strong industrial feeling.
What do you think, is it just a great piece of creative design or a furniture you can integrate in your own space?

The Pallet Project

Do you remember the little sneak peek of our home? On the first photo you can see a little stool The Man built out of wooden pallets he had found on the street.
There are actually about 6 pieces of furniture he built from pallets - a couple of stools, a bedside table, a book shelf and a few others.
I love them so much and am so proud of him as he was making them with the very minimal set of tools and designed them all by himself. We get constant praises from anyone who see those recycled creations.

I was therefore so excited to find about the The Pallet Project by Studiomama which is a great initiative of reusing and up-cycling.

The Pallet Project is the brainchild of Nina Tolstrup who has designed a collection of furniture reclaimed from disused pallets.
The series includes designs for chairs, stools, and lamps which you can make yourself using instructions from Studiomama webshop. The designs are sophisticated but easy to make and the result, thanks to the pallet's unique patterns and colors, is always interesting and one-of-a-kind.

I'm especially fond of the floor lamp with its rustic, but modern, clean look.
Say hello to your new project my darling man! :)

I'm Loving:: Suzie Stanford Imaginative Pieces

Suzie Stanford

Suzie Stanford

Suzie Stanford

How fun are these one off pieces from Melbourne artist Suzie Stanford?
Suzie creates furniture upholstered in a collage of vintage linen tea towels and tapestries, sparkling chandeliers from souvenir tea spoons and lights that are made from mismatched tea cups and saucers hanging upside down.
All of her pieces are handcrafted from secondhand finds and are a happy celebration of imagination and colour.

These tapestry chairs can surely add character to any space and make you smile anytime you sit on them!

More wonderful pieces and info on Suzie Stanford's website.
